BILL AND ITALY

When Terry and I go to Italy we try to go to a place related to opera. Among the places we have gone to are:

BERGAMO The birthplace of Donizetti. It has a Museum devoted to the life and works of Donizetti.
ROMANO DI LOMBARDIA Near to Bergamo it is the birthplace of Rubini, the great 19th century tenor who premiered many of Bellini's operas.
LUCCA The birthplace of Puccini. His home is now a museum which contains letters, manuscripts and the 'Turandot' piano.
LA SCALA Museum of opera at La Scala in Milan. A fascinating collection of costumes, pictures and opera memorabilia.
PESARO House where Rossini was born in 1798. The collection include prints and portraits of the composer and prints of Rossini interpreters.
CATANIA This year we are going to Sicily and hope to go to see Bellini's house in Catania.
